How do I contact you?

The best way to contact me is by email at robert@alabamafishingbuddy.com. I will answer any questions you may have and we can schedule our trip this way.

Is there a charge for your trips?

There is no charge for services.  The only compensation I receive is for expenses.  These include gas for vehicle and boat, bait, food and beverages as well as any tackle or equipment that you need.  My goal here is to meet new people to fish with, not to make money off of them.  All I ask is that you pay your way.

What do I need to bring?

It depends on the kind of trip we will be taking. If you will be bringing your own equipment, I ask that you please limit it to 3 or 4 rod and reel combos and a tackle box. You may also want to bring rain gear depending on the weather and make sure that you have an Alabama issued fishing license. You can get that here. If we will be fishing below Wheeler Dam, then a life jacket is required. I will be happy to provide you with one but if you have one that you find comfortable by all means bring it.

What do you do for lunch?

Feel free to bring a lunch, snacks and soft drinks.  If you want to bring a small cooler, that is fine.  Just remember that space is limited.  Feel free to bring a few adult beverages if you want to.  All I ask is that you enjoy them responsibly and be safe.

Where will we meet?

That all depends on where you will be driving from and where we will be fishing. Some trips may jump off from my house while others may require that we meet somewhere in the middle or possibly meet at the boat launch.

How long will we fish?

Again, this depends on you. Some people like to get on the water before daylight and fish until after dark. Others may prefer to fish mornings or evenings only. I like to let the fish dictate how long I fish.

What kind of gear will we be using?

You are welcome to use your own gear or I can provide you with something that you will be comfortable with. I generally use baitcasting rigs but I have spinning gear and spin casting gear to accomodate fishermen of all levels.

What techniques will we be using?

I would rather worm fish than eat, and I like to eat. The time of year and pattern of the fish will dictate what we have to do to catch them. I use a lot of soft plastics and jigs as well as spinnerbaits, crankbaits and topwater lures. I also like to use live bait for crappie and I always use live bait at Wheeler.
