CLICK HERE FOR ACCESS TO FORUMS AND NETWORKING!!!!!! Our social network is on track to reach 100 members later this year. I have had a great time meeting those of you that I have met and am looking forward to meeting those of you that I have not had the chance to meet yet. If you have not checked out the forums section of the site, take a minute to do so. You can join the site (for free of course), introduce yourself to the rest of us, share tips and techniques, and even schedule trips with other members or myself.
Since starting this site, I have been contacted by numerous people who have interpreted what I am doing as a guide service. While I appreciate the great response that the site has received, I feel it necessary to be very upfront in the differences in a guide service and what I am doing here. I started this site with the idea of finding new and interesting people to fish with as well as making it possible for people who would otherwise not be able to fish to do so. I have several regular fishing partners (You guys know who you are.) but I also enjoy meeting new people and taking the opportunity to share my knowledge with them as well as allowing them to share theirs with me. For me, there is nothing as satisfying as spending a day on the water and making new friends at the same time. I have fished with a few guides and have enjoyed myself immensely. I have also spent a ton of money with these guides and while I have caught some fish with them, I have not learned much from them. Most are very protective of their fishing holes and will even spend a day with one client running around the lake locating fish for their bigwig client that will be coming to fish with them in a day or two. Most of the guided trips I have been on also only last for a few hours and there is a definite drop off in the attentiveness of the guide later in the day. It is almost as though he just wants to let you catch a few fish, get his money and go to the house. I am simply using this site as a way to meet new fishing partners. I AM NOT A GUIDE and I do not charge anyone to take them fishing. I do ask that anyone who wants to set up a trip be willing and able to pay the expenses associated with that trip. I prefer to spend each day on the water as if it were the last day I had to fish. I want to catch as many fish as I can and I also want to have a good time doing it. I like to get that early morning topwater bite, spend a few hours trying to figure out what the fish are doing, spend that hot afternoon pitching piers and boathouses and still be just as serious about the evening bite as I was the morning bite. I don't mind going home but I hate to leave the water. If the fish are biting, I want to stay until I have caught every one of them and if the conversation is good I might even find myself enjoying the company of my fishing partner as much as that of the fish. Sometimes I like to run and gun while other times I may fish all day and never get more than a mile from the launch. I have days when I can't do anything wrong and the fish seem to jump in the boat. I also have days where everything I touch seems to fall apart and I can't buy a bite. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad day fishing though. | ||||||||||||||
